This mirror is most likely an Indochinese decorative object from the 1920s–1930s, a fine example of local craftsmanship influenced by colonial taste. Between 1900 and 1940, many decorative objects blending Asian aesthetics with European forms were produced for the local market and exported to mainland France. These were often referred to as "colonial arts" or "Indochinese" objects. Carved woodwork: The frame and stand are richly carved with highly detailed floral and plant motifs, typical of Vietnamese, Cambodian, or Laotian artisans of the period. The fineness of the wooden lacework, particularly at the top and bottom, suggests advanced craftsmanship, often reserved for fine decorative objects. Wood species: The wood appears to be rosewood or another tropical hardwood, commonly used in Indochina. Form and function: This is a table or dressing table mirror, a common object in bourgeois or colonial interiors, particularly in French homes in Indochina. The European influence is subtle but present in the mirror's very geometric rectangular shape, contrasting with the oriental motifs. A slight reinforcement with a current panel was made at the back to properly hold the mirror in place.
