Poul Cadovius floating sideboard in rosewood, 1960s

This elegant floating sideboard was designed by Poul Cadovius in Denmark in the 1960s and made by his company Cado. It is a beautiful example of his modular furniture design, with characteristic frame-like profiles surrounding the fronts and the integrated handles. The sideboard was designed for audio equipment. Overall size is H: 52 / W: 240 / D: 48 cm. The sideboard consists of three separate cabinets, suspended from four wall-mounted rails. Two cabinets feature traditionally hinged doors, while the third has sliding doors. One of the hinged-door cabinets is fitted with internal compartments designed for vinyl records, albums, or magazines, while the two remaining cabinets contain an internal shelf. Two outer cabinets have original perforated backs, preventing any audio equipment from overheating. One can use it for any audio or video equipment or other appliances. The richly grained rosewood veneer is complemented by thick, profiled strips framing each front; beautifully integrated door handles; and elegant brass hinges, creating a refined and highly characteristic mid-century appearance. The sideboard consists of: Two cabinets with hinged doors, H: 52 / W: 80 / D: 46 cm, One cabinet with sliding doors, H: 52 / W: 80 / D: 46 cm, Four wall-mounted rails, each 52 cm long. The sideboard has been fully renovated and remains in perfect vintage condition. The back of the cabinets bears the original “Made in Denmark” stamp, while the Kontrol Nummer label has also been preserved, confirming the authenticity of the furniture. The middle cabinet has two small round inlays that could be pierced again for wiring. They are not visible and not really useful with modern technology and the presented layout.
