Vintage children's desk and its chair, Hitier spirit, 1950s modernist.

A charming set of school furniture with a strong character, consisting of a desk with a drawer and internal shelves, and its matching chair made of wood and tubular metal. The simple and functional lines, the curved steel legs, and the straightforward shapes of the wood evoke French school furniture from the post-war period. Its aesthetic is in line with the modernist and mid-century movement, featuring a warm industrial spirit. The desk and chair have been enhanced through decorative restoration: the desk top and the chair backrest have been repainted and patinated to create a joyful contrast with the honey tones of the wood and the patina of the metal. The traces of time and the nuances of the finish contribute to its unique charm. All metal structures have been treated for rust resistance. Practical and endearing, this set will find its place in a child's room, a reading nook, or an eclectic interior — for drawing, reading, and dreaming, just like in the schools of yesteryear. Its design recalls the French school furniture productions of the 1950s-60s, in the spirit of Jacques Hitier, known for his furniture combining wood and metal tubing. Chair height 75 cm, seat height 40 cm.
