Rare pair of stools attributed to eugenio quarti (1867 - 1929) Circa 1900. Solid wood inlaid with silver metal and brass, forming decoration of water lilies and water on the sides. Also inlaid borders, forming flower decoration. Very good general condition, except a detachment of a brass net on one of the stools and a small lack on one of the headbands, slight little splinter of wood on one of the feet (see photos) Seats redone, a light halo on one of the stools. At the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, an artistic movement inspired by the forms of nature revolutionized the decorative arts and conquered europe: art nouveau. In italy, where the movement is better known as stile liberty, one of its main ambassadors is none other than eugenio quarti. A pupil and then associate of carlo bugatti (1856-1940), eugenio quarti retained from this collaboration these famous inlays of chromed metal and bone, which he exhibited at the universal exhibition in paris in 1900, as well as at the international exhibition of modern decorative art in turin in 1902.
