Vintage White Bug Eye - Space Age Pendant - Massive

Vintage white bug eye - space age pendant by massive - 1960-70s. Manufactured in the 1960-70's space age design but also referred to as bug eye thanks to its resemblance. Often attributed to the designer luigi colani but that's not valid. More likely the shape was inspired by the futuro house that was designed by the finnish architect matti suuronen in 1968. This pendant in white plastic with translucent windows is made by the belgium lighting company massive. Massive was founded in 1926 and originally started as a bronze foundry that manufactured candles and chandeliers. Years later they also specialized in lighting which let to a huge expansion during the 70's. During the 80's became one of the leading lighting companies in the whole of europe. In 2008 philps took over massive. In overall good condition. Some signs of time & usage (no cracks). This lamp also exists in other colors (flashy green, orange, yellow, blue, brown) but this one is in a less screamy color which makes it a bit more 'accessible'. Specs; Width: ø 40cm. Height: 20cm.
