Original Old School Wall Planisphere. Original Vintage in Paper Over Linen World Map.

A major element of vintage decoration are the maps and posters, whether scientific posters, geographic maps, botany or zoology charts, being original, are always differentiating pieces. In this sense this school planisphere with the geographical representation of the borders of all countries in the world is a good example of my concept, because it has, on the right side, the indication of the existing world population in each country, the area of each state and the capital. At the base it has the representation of all the flags of those countries at the time (see detailed photos). It is a very complete planisphere. This map is undated, but from the type of paper and the information it looks like it dates from the 60s. It is a school map, original portuguese edition and therefore all the legends and names are in portuguese. It is actually a physical, political and geographical map with the details already mentioned above, whose title is "mapa mundo - world map". Besides that information at the top, it also has the time zone indication. It is printed on thick paper, glued on fabric on the back, which looks like linen to me. The paper, despite being thick, has a very smooth texture, still preserving some of the shine of the varnish on the paper, but that's also why the folds and creases from rolling and unrolling are noticeable. The colors are still very vivid and with a lot of contrast, even though the paper is yellowed by time. The wooden beams are also the originals, they are thin and lightly varnished. This world map conforms to the original, nothing has been replaced or altered, just treated. That is why the signs of wear and use are evident. As can be seen, mainly the folds and creases in the paper. At the side edges you can also notice some lint from the cloth. It also has some handling stains. On the back, the fabric is very darkened with stains that appear to be from moisture. The varnish on the wooden beams also has scratches and stains.
