XXL salad bowl in stoneware from Puisaye by Jean-Pierre Prud’homme

Very large stoneware salad bowl with a beautiful glaze that is slightly pyritic in soft colours of ecru, caramel, and chocolate, typical materials and colours of the 1970s. It is thick and therefore very sturdy, and its slightly wider base makes it quite stable. Originally, it was a punch or sangria bowl as it was accompanied by glasses with a U-shaped handle to hang around the bowl; unfortunately, only 5 glasses remain, of which only three are perfectly intact, so I have chosen to offer this bowl alone (but if you find this type of glass elsewhere and want to complete it with the three intact ones, that is entirely possible; they are or will soon be for sale here). Its tall and deep shape is also perfect for mixing and serving a large green salad or for proving a large quantity of brioche dough, yum yum! It is not signed, but on one hand, I recognise the glazing work of Jean-Pierre Prud’homme, and on the other hand, it is part of a large set that I have sourced, several pieces of which are signed. He did not sign all the pieces of the same set. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today (atelier Au grès du vent), run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s-2000s. This salad bowl is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even abrasions on the glaze. It measures 28 cm in diameter and 16 cm in height. It weighs approximately 2.4 kg.
