A beautifully matched pair of traditional Swedish handcrafted two-armed wooden candlesticks, known as 'Taserudsstaken, ' originating from the Arvika region of Dalarna, Sweden. Rooted in a craft tradition dating back to the late 19th century, these candlesticks represent a distinctive regional form developed in the village of Taserud, where generations of highly skilled artisans have passed down the techniques required to produce these iconic objects. Hand-carved from solid oak, the candlesticks have been stained with a dark brown almost black colour and polished to achieve a deep, warm patina that enhances the natural grain of the wood. Each piece features gracefully proportioned arms and a form that is simple, honest, and deeply rooted in Scandinavian folk and design traditions. Hand-forged metal candle holders are integrated for both authenticity and safe use when lit. The true beauty of these candlesticks lies in the craftsmanship: every section of oak has been expertly carved and seamlessly joined, elevating a functional object into a sculptural work of folk art. Their rich, dark tones and balanced silhouettes give them a timeless rustic elegance, equally suited to traditional and contemporary interiors. The pair—consisting of one larger and one smaller candlestick—is offered in excellent vintage condition. Dimensions: Larger candlestick: 27 cm high, 20 cm wide, 17 cm deep at base. Smaller candlestick: 15.5 cm high, 11 cm wide, 8 cm deep at base. Sold as a pair.
