I offer you this sublime antique painting depicting a humid and peaceful landscape with haystacks, dense vegetation, and a misty sky, typical of the French naturalist tradition. This work is an oil on panel, signed lower right "after Sauzey" In homage to Adrien Jacques Sauzey (1836-1881), landscape painter. Associated with the Barbizon School. The mention "after" indicates that this is an interpretation or studio copy in the style of Sauzey, probably produced in the late 19th or early 20th century. This type of work was common in painting academies or among artists trained in the school of nature. In good overall condition, detailed as follows. Generalized fine cracks, clearly visible in raking light, typical of an antique oil on panel, probably dating from the late 19th century. Its support is a rigid wooden panel, without a stretcher, embedded directly in the frame. The back displays a uniform antique patina, without any interfacing or reinforcements. A decorative piece full of character, ideal for a chic country or classic ambiance, or for a family home. A beautiful tribute to the bucolic and sensitive style of the Barbizon School.
