Modernist table lamp VEB, East Germany, 1970, pleated paper lampshade

Table lamps from East Germany from the time when it was under the control of the Soviet Union. A rare model of modernism for the time. Lamp manufactured by the company veb wohnraumleuchten in the city of stadtilm, in eastern Germany, not far from the border with West Germany. Veb stands for volks eigener betrieb – public company. Veb was the main legal form of industrial enterprise in East Germany, meaning that everything was owned and controlled by the state. Lamp are made from metal bases and tubes coated with (brass) two e27 bulbs with screw base. Wired for 220/250 V network. L14-5/160-J
