Passionate about art and music, a musical director in the 1930s, Jean Bérard launched the career of Charles Trénet, gave carte blanche to Django Reinhardt, and published classical music recordings. He was the general director of Pathé Marconi (from 1939 to 1945), notably creating the "Swing" label with Charles Delaunay.
