Pair of French Art Deco Wooden Table Lamps Attributed to Charles Dudouyt

Pair of French Art Deco wooden table lamps attributed to Charles Dudouyt, with sculptural bases, balanced proportions, and a restrained geometric character. The warm, aged wood gives the pair a tactile quality, while the compact scale makes them particularly versatile in an interior. The bases have been refinished, preserving the patina. The original wiring has been retained and is fully functional, with contemporary bulb holders fitted to the lamps. They are completed with new square cotton and linen shades in a natural cream color, with softly rounded corners, measuring 20.5 cm (8.07 in) on each side. Charles Dudouyt's work occupies an important place within French decorative arts of the 1930s and 1940s. His approach to wood combined traditional craftsmanship with a strong interest in volume, texture, and simplified form. His furniture and objects are particularly appreciated for the way they bridge the decorative richness of Art Deco with the more restrained language of modernism. These lamps would work naturally on a console, occasional table, or bedside tables, particularly within interiors where period pieces are combined with modern furniture.
