Ancient African Awalé in carved wood – traditional game – Ivory Coast

Superb ancient African awalé, hand-carved from solid wood with a beautiful natural patina. This traditional sowing game, typical of the Baoulé / Dan peoples (Ivory Coast – Ghana), served both as entertainment and a symbolic ritual object. Carefully sculpted piece featuring: • 12 game pits and 2 end reservoirs, • a stylised anthropomorphic head, • incised geometric patterns, • an old and warm patina, • a length of approximately 70 cm. 🔸 Unique item, blending authenticity, craftsmanship, and tribal art. 🔸 Ideal for wall decoration, on a console, or as part of an African art collection. 🔸 In very good overall condition, with signs of age consistent with its years.
