Impressive pair of ABCD lounge chairs in immaculate condition. ] The chairs were designed by Pierre Paulin in 1968 and manufactured by the Dutch company Artifort. The ABCD chairs are very rare, highly sought after, and collectible pieces. This specific pair is an early version featuring metal casters and the original metal Artifort tag. These pieces have been meticulously restored and feature entirely new foam that matches the original shapes and curves perfectly. The chairs are reupholstered in a very high quality light beige Kvadrat Gentle 2 fabric designed by Fabrik, which has a particularly opulent feel and a sumptuous, soft pile. The ABCD series is characterized by its wave-shaped curves, reminiscent of an egg carton, providing each user with their own armrest and a sense of privacy. Pierre Paulin made a considerable impression with his contemporary shell fauteuil at an international furniture show, leading to a long and fruitful collaboration with Artifort. His designs are known for their striking sculptural shapes and comfort, and his work remains timeless and progressive.
