Gilt Bronze Wall Light – Empire / Napoleon III Style – 2 b

Magnificent antique two-armed wall sconce, in gilt bronze, Empire or Napoleon III style. This is a refined decorative piece, probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. Made entirely of bronze, it features rich and careful ornamentation: palmettes, foliage, scrolls and lion heads in relief holding a fine metal chain. Each arm ends in a finely openwork brass socket, topped with a decorative crown. The back of the sconce shows old wiring that needs to be reviewed (see photo), the electricity has not been tested.
