We are offering for sale this absolutely magnificent and exceptionally rare Victorian library sofa dating from around 1860-1880. This sofa is hand-carved with lion mane motifs and hairy paw feet, and features a Chesterfield tufted upholstery with a floral silk blend. This sofa is part of a large suite that includes a pair of armchairs, four chairs, and a grandly ornate sofa, but the sale concerns only this sofa. The structure is made of hand-carved solid mahogany with flame mahogany panels. The condition of the upholstery is period and shows a natural patina that gives it authentic character. Dimensions: Height 110 cm, Width 204.5 cm, Depth 93 cm, Seat height 45 cm. This piece is one of the most beautiful examples of Victorian furniture seen recently.
