Pair of glazed ceramic candlesticks signed Vilà Clara. Spain, second half of the 20th century. Candlesticks known as cellar rats. Slightly conical cylindrical shaft on an enlarged base forming an integrated saucer with a side loop handle. Glossy glaze in shades of blue and aquamarine, with a stylised vertical brushstroke decoration reminiscent of the geometric modernist patterns characteristic of the Catalan workshop. The Vilà Clara signature is located under the base, attesting to the production of the famous ceramic factory in Breda (Catalonia), founded in the 1950s by brothers Josep and Joaquim Vilà Clara, known for their transparent glazes and work inspired by the Art Deco movement and post-war design. Height: 15 cm. Diameters: 11 and 13.5 cm. Excellent condition. Intact glaze, no cracks or chips.
