A masterpiece of Belle Époque Parisian metalwork, this silver-plated solifleur vase embodies the organic vitality and fluid naturalism of French Art Nouveau. Produced by Orfèvrerie Gallia, Christofle’s prestige line, the slender neck opens onto a body sculpted in high relief with a coiled dragonfly—a key Art Nouveau symbol of fluidity, metamorphosis, and weightless, sinuous movement, perfectly mirroring the organic whiplash curves of the era. The form is bordered by a delicate band of forget-me-nots (myosotis) and rests upon a sculptural lily-pad base. Conceived in the wake of the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, Model 4841 remains one of the maison's most iconic and sought-after flora-and-fauna compositions. Producer: Orfèvrerie Gallia / Christofle, Paris. Model: 4841. Marks: Stamped O. GALLIA with rooster mark and model number 4841 to base. The vase was reissued from 2002 to 2004 with the modern Christofle logo on the base however this piece identifies as a first edition bearing original hand stamped makers marks and patina. DIMENSIONS 18cm high X 9.5 at widest. Opening 5.5cm. CONDITION Good antique condition; carefully cleaned and lightly polished with a silver cloth on the high points to highlight its magnificent sculptural details under the light while preserving a gentle vintage patina.
