The Shinshoku collection: the bedside table in natural oak and marble. HERE: display model for a photo shoot. The pieces in the Shinshoku collection are the result of a collaboration between Bordeaux-based designer and interior architect Ludovic Renson and the founding couple of Maison Saman, Alice and Antoine. The bedside table or side table is halfway between a functional object and a sculpture. This piece is handmade by the Maison Saman workshop in the Chevreuse Valley. The furniture is made of solid wood and marble. “I wanted to recreate the accidents created by the elements, like pebbles on beaches, shaped by the waves. I also liked the idea of having furniture that stood out from the walls, around which you could move, like islands, between works of art and furniture.” – Ludovic Renson, interviewed by Ideat magazine. “shinshoku” or “erosion” in Japanese. This collection is inspired by the passing of time, which erodes, like a stone polished by time, water, machined by the climate. In contrast, the addition of materials – such as marble scraps – creates a duality between the materials, playing on the texture relationships: between roughness and polish, between matt and shine. Through the materials used and their highlighting, these furniture elements refer to the arte povera movement: they do not allow to define a precise function, but question the relationship to the objects that surround us. Creations in limited edition of 10 copies. Our companies are artisanal, our products are delicately handmade and therefore require patience. International shipping possible. This piece is also available in burnt wood.
