Set of three dining chairs, model alpha from the meander series, designed by rudolf wolf. Manufactured by meander (netherlands) in the 1960s. Black lackered steel structure. The chairs have been reupholstered with a white structured fabric. Rudolf wolf is one of the most important industrial designers of the netherlands. After a brief period at various architectural firms, he focused mid 1950s on furniture designs for various manufacturers. In 1955 rudolf wolf designed a series of furniture for elsrijk using ingenious solutions as welding and this way he was able to give this furniture a solid construction. In 1964 the meander gamma furniture series followed. The alpha chair is the dining chair version of this series consisting of models called alpha, beta and gamma. The gamma club chair (1963) was named by the american institute of international designers best furniture design of the year 1964.
