Hello. I am offering a post-impressionist watercolour from the French school, signed by André Beronneau (1886-1973), a well-regarded and referenced painter (photo no. 10). This work, with its spring colours, depicts the Pont-Neuf in Paris, located in the medieval and prestigious Marais district of Île de la Cité. The famous Parisian barges are depicted in abundance, as well as the banks of the Seine. One can also notice a beautiful representation of splendid reflections in the water. This watercolour, in perfect condition, dates from 1920 (mentioned to the right of the signature - photo no. 2). Contrary to its name, the Pont-Neuf is the oldest existing bridge in Paris. Built from the late 16th century, it owes its name to the novelty of having a bridge without buildings on either side of the bank, where only the presence of sidewalks protected pedestrians from mud and horses. It is also the first stone bridge built in Paris that crosses the Seine. This historically significant bridge has been classified as a historical monument since 1889. In 1991, the Pont-Neuf was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, along with the entire banks of the Seine. Frame dimensions: 53.5 cm x 41 cm. Artwork dimensions: 37.5 cm x 28.5 cm. The thick, embossed paper (300 g/m²) of this watercolour is a "pale light brown" with a cream tendency (photo no. 5 - back of the artwork). This authentic watercolour has been thoroughly cleaned by a professional, and a matte anti-UV varnish has been applied. The work has undergone no restoration; it is identical to its original state without any ambiguity. An oak frame from the same period has been restored, cleaned, and a vintage varnish has been applied. The gilding of the rabbet has been re-gilded with a special "rich gold" lacquer for fine arts (photo no. 9). The whole piece is ready to be hung for an unforgettable reminder of a stay in Paris.
