Hello. I am offering a post-impressionist watercolor from the French school signed André Beronneau (1886-1973), a referenced and very well-rated painter (photo n°10). This work in spring colors represents the Pont-Neuf in Paris in the medieval and prestigious district of the Marais on the Île de la Cité. The famous Parisian barges are represented in number as well as the quays of the Seine. We also note a very beautiful realization of splendid reflections in the water. This watercolor in perfect condition dates from 1920 (mentioned to the right of the signature - photo n° 2). Contrary to its name, the Pont-Neuf is the oldest existing bridge in Paris. Built from the end of the 16th century, it owes its name to the novelty that was at that time a bridge without houses on either side of the bank, where only the presence of sidewalks protected pedestrians from mud and horses. It is also the first stone bridge built in Paris that crossed the Seine. This bridge full of history has been part of a classification as a historical monument since 1889. In 1991, the Pont-Neuf was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with all the quays of the Seine. Frame dimensions: 53.5 cm X 41 cm. Work dimensions: 37.5 cm X 28.5 cm. The thick, embossed paper (300 g/m2) of this watercolor is "pale light brown" in color, tending towards cream (photo no. 5 - back of the work). This authentic watercolor was completely cleaned by a professional, then a matte anti-UV varnish was applied. The work has not undergone any restoration, it is identical to its original without any ambiguity. An oak frame from the same period was restored, cleaned, then an aging varnish was applied. The gilding of the rebate has been regilded with a special "rich gold" type lacquer for fine arts (photo no. 9). The whole is ready to be hung for an unforgettable souvenir of a stay in Paris.
