Pair of design chairs by gordon russell (1892-1980) in the 70s, reupholstered, chrome steel base. The cushions are removable and fixed with velcro. They can find their place in front of a desk or in a waiting room as guest seats, in a room or around a table. Gordon russel was an important british designer and publisher who crossed the twentieth century. Self-taught, he began to make furniture in the tradition of the english art & craft movement, then ended his career at the head of a company of 100 people! Sir terence conran, founder of the habitat stores and director of the design museum put it this way: "he was probably the first designer to get involved in a complete lifestyle... He was interested in the product but also in the life around him. He was interested in the garden, food, hotels... To the whole. It's kind of the same kind of thing as what I do. He was much more than just a designer and manufacturer.".
