Straw chair attributed to Charles Dudouyt, 1940. Chair known as "fireside chairs" or "fireside" brutalist art. This solid oak model is very comfortable with its wide and solid straw seat. Born in 1885, Charles Dudouyt began an artistic career after studying at the Germain Pilon school. He painted, drew and earned his living by illustrating publications, notably for Calmann-Levy and L'Assiette au Beurre. Then in 1933, he moved to Paris and, opting for a contemporary style, he founded the gentleman's house which included a manufacturing workshop and a store where he made furniture, floor lamps and decorative objects. 73 X 49 X 43 cm. Seat height 32cm. In very good general condition, some signs of wear (scratches) and patina on the wood. Clean, fast and careful delivery to Paris / Reims / Laon.
