Ancient Kwele mask

Antique hand-carved wooden Kwele mask, characteristic of Central African tribal art (Gabon region, Congo, Cameroon). This type of mask, with its refined shapes and heart-shaped outline, was traditionally used during purification and social cohesion ceremonies. Beautiful antique work, stylized face with simple, geometric features. Light wood, original matte patina, significant signs of wear and age visible, particularly on the edges and back. Some old insect galleries, nevertheless stable structure. Dimensions: Height 37 cm X Width 26 cm.
