Schoolboy coffee desk - art deco - Japan 1920-30

This small child writing table is a japanese creation around 1920-40. Light, veneer wood. Pattern carved in low relief on the door - original pompom on the handle. It measures exactly: 81 cm long - 39 cm wide. Height 32.5 and 31 (on the right stall) We notice its functional and aesthetic aspect - stripped but has discreet elegance. These are the characteristics "mingei", a movement inspired by buddhism, which consisted of a united aesthetics and beauty in the simple gestures of everyday life. There are shocks and scratches of use - no restorations - it can be diverted into a coffee table, or even, placed on a large desk like a side shelf.
