A stunning mid-century vintage French studio pottery pitcher (known as a gargoulette) from the 1960s/1970s, completely hand-crafted and hand-painted by the French ceramicist Ghila. This highly collectible piece is deeply inspired by prehistoric parietal cave art (Lascaux style). It features beautifully detailed, hand-painted zoomorphic figures of a wild boar and a running stag in rich, earthy ochre, brown, and black tones. The heavily textured, mottled beige surface is artfully designed to replicate the raw feel and look of an ancient cave wall. • Markings: Signed "GHILA" on the body and inscribed "DECOR MAIN" (Hand-Decorated) on the underside. • Dimensions: Height approx. 22 cm (8.6 inches)|Width at the spout approx. 17 cm (6.7 inches) • Condition: In absolute mint condition. Pristine collector's piece with no chips, cracks, micro-chips, or previous restorations. A perfect statement piece to add a brutalist, mid-century modern touch to a curated interior, or an excellent addition for collectors of French vintage pottery.
