Pierre paulin (born july 9, 1927 in paris) and died on june 13, 2009 in montpellier is a french designer born in paris in 1927. The particularity of its design lies in a shift from decoration to the design quite characteristic of post-war design in france and in the materials used to make the seats. These are stuffed with moss and dressed with an elastic fabric, called "jersey". He is one of the most famous french designers and the subject of numerous books and retrospectives. After being a pupil of the ensemblier maxime old, he joined marcel gascoin's design office. In 1953, success came with the salon des arts household, he then began a collaboration with thonet france. Paulin found his influences in scandinavian furniture and in the american productions of charles emes and florence knoll. In 1954, thonet france began publishing pierre paulin's furniture. From 1960 to 1970, pierre paulin developed for artifort a range of seats made of moulded wooden hulls lined with pirelli foam and decorated with prefabricated covers in stretchy fabric, soft and rounded shapes, with bright colors.
