Vase shiva by ettore sottsass, bd barcelona - circa 2000. Excellent original state. Original box in very good condition. Very impressed by hindu symbolism during his trip to india in the 1960s, sottsass gave a phallic shape to his vase to symbolize shiva. This subversive piece was one of the first published by ediciones de diseno in 1973 (which became bd barcelona). The story also tells that ettore sottass had fallen madly in love with a catalan woman at that time, which would explain the shape of this small vase that had become a monument to design.
