Borsani studied fine arts at the Brera Academy in Milan and architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan. While still a student, he began working on furniture in his father's company. As early as 1933, Osvaldo Borsani received a silver medal at the fifth Triennale in Milan. He was awarded for his highly regarded project "Casa Minima." In 1953, Osvaldo founded the company TECNO with his twin brother Fulgenzio. The company became known for its research-oriented approach to furniture design. Notable creations from Tecno include the D70 sofa from 1954 and the P40 chaise longue from 1955.
