Carpet berbere azilal 90x185 cm

The azilal carpets or the azilals are, as their name suggests, originating from the steep berber region of azilal, located in the remote and very difficult to access mountains of the high atlas of morocco, south of the city of beni mellal and about 180 km northeast of marrakech. Azilal carpets are only created by women. It is a clever balance between weaving and knotting that allows them to create unique carpets with varied patterns and colors. This is how they transform what is initially only a first-class pile of wool into a work of art in its own right.
