Vase Duo from East and West German Ceramic History – East German Pottery meets West German Pottery. This set unites two extraordinary ceramic vases from the 1960s and 1970s, connecting two defining movements of European studio pottery: East German Pottery and West German Pottery. Both vases are considered particularly characteristic models of their respective manufacturers and showcase very different yet stylistically exciting approaches to ceramic design. Vase 1 (left) – VEB Strehla (East German Pottery) The smaller vase comes from the production of VEB Strehla Keramik, one of the most well-known ceramic companies of the former GDR. This particular model series from Strehla gained international attention and is now specifically sought after by collectors. The vase is a design unique from the East-Pottery era with corresponding collector value. Height of vase: 18 cm. Vase 2 (right) – Scheurich "Kosmos" (West German Pottery) The second vase is from the manufacturer Scheurich Keramik, one of the most significant producers of West German Pottery. It is the well-known model "Kosmos, " which is strongly influenced by the Sputnik era and the fascination for space travel and cosmic forms at the time. The decor features star-like motifs. Both vases are in exceptionally good condition. They are clearly display pieces. The ceramics show no signs of wear from use. The glazes are undamaged both inside and out. Furthermore, both vases are completely waterproof.
