Pierre Clama, whose real name is Pierre Clamagirand, was born in 1934 in Lunéville. In Paris, alongside his architecture studies, he became interested in drawing and painting. He then met Pierre Bonnard, with whom he formed a friendship that would greatly influence his work. Subsequently, Pierre Clama met many painters, poets, writers, sculptors, and other artists from whom he drew inspiration for his paintings: Aimé Césaire, Gabriel Fournier, Michel and Louise Leiris, André Beaudin, Alberto Giacometti, Edouard Pignon... His paintings depict all kinds of performances: theatre, landscapes, street scenes, portraits, travels, and music. A polymorphic artist, Pierre Clama's works arise from his encounters, his various passions, and combine writing, colours, and light.
