Orphaned very early on by a father who was himself a painter, georges joubin was a student of jean-pierre laurens at the académie julian in 1906, then of gabriel ferrier at the école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de paris in 1908 he settled in 1912 in the artists' city "les fusains", in montmartre where he participated in the founding of the school of montmartre, being the initiator of the manifesto proclaiming: "we believe we can create a work not not nourished by abstraction, but plunging to the very roots of life.”.
