Dining set, brown mahogany, beige fabric, Lübke, Germany, 1960s.

This German dining set from the 1960s, produced by the renowned manufacturer Lübke, comprises a round, extendable table and four matching chairs. The set is crafted from wood featuring a deep mahogany hue and a glossy finish that highlights the natural grain, lending the ensemble an air of sophistication. Upholstered in light beige fabric with a delicate vertical ribbed texture, the chairs offer a subtle contrast to the dark wood. Their horseshoe-shaped backrests and slender, slightly tapered legs underscore the mid-century modern influence, while the table’s stability is ensured by a central pedestal base with four widely spaced feet. The construction and finish—featuring smooth, meticulously polished surfaces and precise joinery free of visible hardware—attest to superior craftsmanship. The set remains in excellent original condition, bearing only the minor, natural signs of use typical of authentic vintage furniture. This composition echoes the spirit of 1960s German modernism: simplicity meets functionality, with every detail serving a harmony of form and comfort. The table and chairs seem to tell the story of shared meals—quiet conversations, everyday gestures, and family rituals. The mahogany’s lustrous surface reflects the light, while the pale upholstery introduces a softness that invites one to linger and relax at the table. This set gently organizes the space rather than dominating it, inviting everyday use. It pairs beautifully with minimalist ceramics and textiles in muted tones, highlighting its subtle character. It works equally well in a classic dining room or a modern interior with a mid-century modern aesthetic. Lamps with streamlined shades, low wooden shelving units, and geometric wall art make excellent complementary additions. Pairing it with a light-colored rug or potted plants helps enliven the space and accentuate the depth of the mahogany. The listed price is for the complete set, comprising the table and four chairs.
