Brutalist modernist bowl in stoneware by Haico Nitzsche for Søholm, Denmark – 1970. This authentic stoneware bowl, designed by Haico Nitzsche for the renowned Søholm factory (on the island of Bornholm, Denmark), is a masterpiece of Scandinavian art ceramics. A perfect example of 1970s "brutalist" design, this piece embodies the tactile, raw, and organic aesthetic of the era. Nitzsche, the acclaimed chief designer of the workshop, was known for his mastery of contrasts: here he skillfully combines unglazed natural stoneware textures with a rhythmic geometric and floral relief. The interior is enhanced by a rich glaze in shades of iron and deep brown. A characterful piece with a Wabi-Sabi spirit, ideal as a centrepiece or to enrich a collection of Danish studio ceramics. The underside of the bowl bears the official stamp "Søholm Denmark". Details: Designer: Haico Nitzsche. Manufacturer: Søholm Stentøj. Era: 1970s. Style: Brutalist / Modernist / Wabi-Sabi. Material: Glazed and raw stoneware. Colour: Deep brown / Earthy tones. Dimensions: Diameter 22 cm | Height 7 cm. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips or cracks. The visible circular turning marks at the centre are original and testify to its handcrafted production.
