Armchair and ottoman scoubidou, gray, vintage, 70s

Grey scoubidou armchair and metal structure with its footrest. Very comfortable set. In good general condition. Only a few small stings on the metal that can be easily removed. A beautiful vintage set to enjoy the sun on sunny days on the balcony or terrace for example. For the record: scoubidou comes from the provençal escoba (broom). Long before the era of plastic, children collected the hair of brooms made of rilsan (a kind of nylon from castor that could be colored at will) to braid them together and make small multicolored socks. The inventor is henry courtet born in 1922. The scoubidou, a multicolored fetish object, is a creative hobby that appeared in france in 1958. It was celebrated the following year in the eponymous song by sacha distel. Fashion reappeared in the 1980s.
