Thomas Buxo multifunctional ceramic candlestick ashtray olive dish

This clever, artistic decorative dish by Thomas Buxo combines many functions in its design. At first glance, the unusual elements seem purely artistic. However, a keen eye will see that the ridges along the edge serve as a grip and also as a rest for cigarettes. The two bowls appear to be directly inspired by holders for skewers on a Spanish olive platter... But they can also be used as candlesticks. The design is both visually interesting and brilliantly executed for practical use. French artist Thomas Buxo graduated from the Rietveld Academy in 1996. He is known for his graphic design and ceramics and has his own studio in Amsterdam. His decorative ceramics are influenced by the aesthetics of Mid-Century Modernism and are often compared to Picasso. Buxo is an active artist living and working in the Netherlands.
