Swedish Grace Cabinet, Flamed Mahogany

An elegant cabinet on four slender legs, combining Biedermeier simplicity with Empire-inspired decorative details. The exterior features richly figured veneer, flame mahogany, with a striking grain pattern. Two doors open to reveal a contrasting light wood interior fitted with three shallow drawers or sliding trays. Their fronts feature decorative palmette motifs and fine linear borders. The inner door panels display a geometric diamond pattern, while gold-tone metal mounts with foliate ornament decorate the apron beneath the cabinet. The design suggests the first half of the 19th century, approximately 1820–1840, although a later revival piece cannot be ruled out. The exact date, country of origin and maker remain unconfirmed. A distinctive piece for a living room or study, suitable for storing documents and small objects. The photographs show signs of wear, including scratches and localised surface damage, particularly along the edges and on the back.
