Pair of Victorian English chairs known as balloon chairs in carved solid mahogany, 19th century. Pair of salon chairs of the "balloon chair" type. British manufacture. 19th century, Victorian period. Structure in carved and moulded solid mahogany. Traditional joinery assemblies in seating. Open backrest with a profiled circular shape, characteristic of the model. Relief carvings with leaf scroll motifs and volutes at the crown as well as at the base of the backrest. Trapezoidal seat with a scalloped front. Curved cabriole front legs. Sabre-profiled back legs. Traditional upholstery on crossed jute webbing (documented restoration dating from the 1990s-2000s). Covering in ivory-coloured corduroy. Excellent structural condition. Patina of use on the woodwork. Minor chip or loss of material at the base of a back leg, not affecting stability. Tiny stains and signs of use on the textile covering.
