Created in the 1950s-1960s by the Belgian ceramist Hubert Bequet (1912-1985), founder of the Quaregnon pottery in 1934. This large decorative plate model no. 477 perfectly illustrates his craftsmanship, renowned for its colourful pieces enhanced with gold. Made of glazed earthenware, it features an original asymmetrical shape resembling a leaf or shell with hand-painted stripes (green, pink, yellow, black) and a raised golden bead. The piece is stamped on the back "MADE IN BELGIUM - H. BEQUET QUAREGNON" with the number 477 embossed. Its dimensions are 32 cm in length, 23 cm in width, and 6 cm in height. In generally good condition, the plate is neither broken nor cracked; it only shows some slight signs of wear over time and a slightly faded gilding in places.
