Presenting an exceptionally rare and dynamic piece of 20th-century Dutch design: a modular two-tier brutalist coffee table by renowned sculptor and mosaic artist Paul Kingma (1931–2013). Unlike Kingma's more common monolithic, single-surface designs, this highly architectural model features an innovative, multi-level system that plays with depth, scale, and function. Throughout his career, Kingma treated furniture as a playground for sculpture, hand-building every piece so that no two tables are ever alike. The two round, tiered tabletops feature his signature concrete-matrix mosaic, arranged with natural slate, stone segments, and hand-cut brass geometric inlays. Kingma embedded curiosities collected during his travels into his creations. This table showcases historic British coins featuring King George V and Queen Elizabeth II within a multi-alloy brass ring. The heavy, organic surface rests on solid, textured brutalist concrete pedestal bases, linked by industrial pins and elevated on brass rods. This is a fully documented, authentic work, featuring an integrated brass strip engraved with 'Design' and Kingma's handwritten signature, guaranteeing provenance and investment value. The table is in excellent vintage condition, with the stone mosaic perfectly preserved and a natural patina. Light wear on the concrete edges and minor oxidation on the brass accents highlight its authentic historical character.
