Creil and Montereau sugar pot in blue earthenware, "Japan" service circa 1895
Description
Sugar pot from the french earthenware factory creil et montereau, "japan" service in slightly blue enameled earthenware composed of a baluster container decorated with plum trees, cherry trees and chrysanthemums in blue, two handles and topped with a domed lid with a flat edge repeating the plant motifs and ending with a round handle. The upper part as well as the lid repeat the frieze so specific to this service that can be found on all the other pieces. Also called "monet", this service was produced from 1876 and testifies to the great influence of japan at this time. This sugar pot, bearing the creil et montereau strike of 1895 below, is in good general condition since it has no cracks. We note five chips on the edge of the lid, which do not detract from its aesthetics and solidity. Ideal for joining your table, it will bring a vintage and japanese touch to your decoration.
