Painting Gaston Haustrate (Bruxelles, 1878-1949)

🕊 oil on canvas painting picturing a street view titled “rue des pigeons blancs” by the brussels painter gaston haustrate (1878 - 1949), dating from the beginning of the twentieth century 🕊 Presented in an ornate wooden frame with gold coloured finishing. The soft beige, pink and yellows make the painting quite dreamy and summery whilst also adding some mistery. Haustrate was counted amongst the “sillonists”, an art movement originated in the brussels academy in reaction to luminism. Their idea was to paint closer to reality. This is why haustrate is known for painting what he saw, as he saw it, using a bright yet harmonious colour palette. Condition: good vintage condition (the frame has some dents - see pictures) Dimensions: 80cm X 65cm (without frame), 100cm X 83cm (with frame).
