Mauritanian mat 120x180 cm

Mauritanian mats are entirely hand-woven with leather straps and palm fibers. The leather mats are admirable. It is a kind of rigid weaving of thin strips of wood and straps of painted leather. For the chain is used either the rib of palm leaves, or ronier, or grass stems. The dimensions of the mats vary, but in general the medium-sized mat "ḥsayra" is 20 feet long by 8 feet wide.
