Eileen gray (1879-1976). "transat" flesh. First edition by andrée putman for ecart international, france, 1978. Black lacquered wood, brushed metal, camel leather. Excellent condition. A very iconic piece originally designed by eileen gray in 1927 for villa e 1027 in roquebrune cap martin, french riviera. About 5 copies were made in the 1930s by eileen gray, one of which is kept at the met in new york, and another by the museum of decorative arts in paris. In 1978, andrée putman decided to create a high-quality edition faithful to the original. Our copy dates from this period, dressed in the color most faithful to the original chairs, the same as the chair created for the maharaja of indore.
