Solid walnut slant-front desk, 18th century (Louis XV style)
Authentic provincial slant-front desk (secretary) from the 18th century, in Louis XV style, made of solid walnut (or cherry). This piece of regional carpentry has a unique charm with its original rough back assembled with square-headed forged nails. It opens with a slanted flap, a large drawer in the waist, and a low molded door in a gendarme hat shape resting on curved feet. Exceptional feature: It is sold with its original forged iron key (12 cm solid shaft) and its period surface-mounted iron lock, both fully functional. Condition: Beautiful historical patina. The upper top shows natural working cracks due to the age of the wood, which attests to its two centuries of existence and does not affect its sturdiness. Dimensions: Width: 77 cm | Depth: 57 cm | Height: 100 cm.
