Glazed ceramic jug "Pumpkin" – Attributed to Alphonse Mouton (Alpho) – 20th century. Very beautiful sculptural jug in glazed ceramic, attributed to the French ceramist Alphonse Mouton (known as Alpho, active in Saint-Vallier from the 1930s to the 1980s), recognisable by his characteristic palette of glazes and drip effects. Its bulbous and ribbed shape evokes a melon, a pumpkin, or a gourd, extended by a spectacularly elongated organic handle. The flamed glaze offers magnificent progressive shades: honey, ochre, and caramel tones at the top of the neck, transitioning to a vibrant blue and then a deep, shiny brown-black at the bottom. Artist / Ceramist: Attributed to Alphonse Mouton (Alpho) – traces of partially erased gold signature/marking on the belly of the jug. Period: Mid-20th century (circa 1950-1960) Material: Ceramic / Flamed glazed stoneware. Style: Vintage / Brutalist / Art ceramic. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, or nicks to report. A unique decorative piece with strong aesthetic character, ideal as a table jug or repurposed as a vase on a sideboard.
