A set of six "Church Chairs" designed by Viggo Hardie-Fischer and produced by Sorø Møbelfabrik in Denmark in the 1950s. Inspired by the work of Kaare Klint for the Bethlehem Church in Copenhagen, this model was initially designed for the Mariehøj Church, consecrated in 1958, of which Hardie-Fischer was the architect, and where these chairs are still in use today. Made of solid oak with woven paper cord seats and brass details, these chairs feature a straightforward and well-proportioned slatted back structure. Originally intended for church interiors in Denmark and Sweden, they were designed to withstand daily use and integrate naturally into contemporary interiors, alongside works by Scandinavian modernist designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Tapio Wirkkala, Josef Frank, Paavo Tynell, Alvar Aalto, and Hans-Agne Jakobsson. Patina and signs of use on the paper cord. Very good overall condition. Seat height: 45 cm.
