Overview: Elegant straight-lined Biedermeier bookcase / display cabinet from South Germany, circa 1820. Tall, symmetrical silhouette typical of the period, ideal for refined interiors. Design: Two front doors with glazed upper panels and veneered lower panels. Modest projecting cornice and plinth base with short bracket-style feet. Materials & Finish: Cherrywood veneer on softwood carcass with book-matched veneer details on the doors. Ebony-set edges and an ebony veneered central strip; thick cast brass fittings and hinges. Interior: Interior painted black with five adjustable insert shelves to adapt storage and display. Two internal bolts on the left and a box lock on the right for secure closure. Dimensions: H 179.5 cm X W 118 cm X D 42.5 cm (listed dimensions). Provenance: South Germany, produced around 1820, Biedermeier period.
